Description: This is a long-term course provided by Sodfos in the field of Lighting Design. This course is a must for all who aspire to venture into the field of Lighting Design. The course will be an intensive training conducted for Professionals who have completed their study in the field of Engineering, Architecture or Designing. The classes will be conducted on a full-time basis by the company.

Course Overview:

This is a Full-Time Graduate Diploma Course offered by Sodfos for a total period of 1 year. The course of study is divided into two semesters.

Semester 1 (6 months)

Module 1: Lighting Design Software Training (60 hrs)

Module 2: Fundamentals of Lighting Design (40 hrs)

Module 3: Lighting Controls & Programming (50 hrs)

Module 4: Lighting Design Practises in Retail, Hospitality & Exterior Lighting (60 hrs)

Semester 2 (6 months)

Module 1: Lighting Design Practises in Roadway, Parking & Sports Lighting (60 hrs)

Module 2: Live Project (3-6 months)

System Requirements:

DIALux evo 8: CPU with SSE2-support, 4 GB RAM (min. 2GB), OpenGL 3.0 graphics card (1 GB RAM), Windows 7/8.1/10 (32/64 bit), Resolution min. 1024 x 768 px.

DIALux 4: Processor P IV or later, 1.4 GHz or faster, 1 GB RAM, Graphics card with OpenGL or DirectX Support, Resolution 1280 x 1024 px, Windows XP/Vista/7/8.1/10.

Course Summary:

Semester 1:

Module 1: Lighting Design Software Training (60 hrs)

In this module, we cover all the basics of lighting design and the software DIALux. Both DIALux evo 8 and DIALux 4 will be introduced in this module. The module also includes various group and individual projects.

Module 2: Fundamentals of Lighting Design (40 hrs)

In this module, you will be trained both in theoretical and practical aspects of lighting design. Both International Standards & Indian Standards will be explained in detail. During the course of this module, you will work on individual and group projects where you will implement different elements you learned in the module. This module also includes guided tours to various projects.

Module 3: Lighting Controls & Programming (50 hrs)

The Lighting Controls & Programming Module is a 30-hour program where you will be trained in Control Software like ESA, ChromaTeQ, Madrix, etc. You will also be trained with the Hardware which will give you ample practical exposure.

Module 4: Lighting Design Practises in Retail, Hospitality & Exterior Lighting (60 hrs)

This module introduces a Lighting Designer to the domains of Retail Lighting (Boutiques, Shops, Commercial Products, etc.), Hospitality Lighting (Restaurants, Resorts, etc.) and Exterior Lighting of buildings.

Semester 2:

Module 1: Lighting Design Practises in Roadway, Parking & Sports Lighting (60 hrs)

This module introduces a Lighting Designer in depth to various domains of Lighting Design. This module introduces in depth the standard practises in Roadway Lighting, Parking System Lighting and Sports Lighting.

Module 2: Live Project (3-6 months)

This is a module available exclusively to the students of the Graduate Diploma in Lighting Design Program. In this module, you will be working on a Live Project starting from scratch. You will have the chance to interact with the clients where you will be learning various aspects of this industry like Client Management, Project Scheduling, etc. You will then develop a Lighting Design for the client considering their specifications. The design has to be efficient in order to be implemented. On satisfying the criteria, you will get the chance to see through and implement your project. While implementing the project, you can develop your networking among the professionals and companies in this industry. You will get support from Sodfos at all stages of executing your project, starting from client management to the final execution of your project. Upon completing the project, you will have to submit a report following which you will receive your certification.
